Waffler turns what you said into clean text and pastes it where you were typing. It’s free and open source, with no Waffler account and no subscription.

Setup walks you through permissions, then you talk. You need a Groq or OpenAI API key, and the API key guide shows where to get one.
Open the .dmg and drag Waffler into Applications.
Allow Accessibility and Input Monitoring when asked, so it can hear your hotkey and paste for you.
Paste your Groq key into the setup window.
Hold Fn, talk, let go.
Default hotkey
FnYou can change it to Command + Shift or Option + Shift, in Settings.
Run the installer. If SmartScreen warns you, choose More info, then Run anyway.
Paste your Groq key into the setup window.
Hold Win + Ctrl, talk, let go.
Default hotkey
WinCtrlYou can change it to Ctrl + Shift when setup asks for your hotkey.
01Your hotkey. Hold to talk. Let go to paste.
02Space. Tap Space while holding the hotkey to lock recording on, then let go and keep talking. Press the hotkey again to stop and paste.
03Esc. Esc cancels while you’re recording: nothing is transcribed, pasted or sent, so nothing is spent. The waffle’s X does the same.
Mac builds are signed and notarised. Windows builds are not code-signed yet.
Our code signing policy explains who can publish a release and how builds are produced.
Mac
Signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple, so it opens without an unidentified-developer warning.
Windows
Windows builds are not signed yet: we have applied to the SignPath Foundation, whose certificate, through SignPath.io, will sign Windows releases once the application is approved. Until then SmartScreen may warn you: choose More info, then Run anyway.
Checksums
Every release is built by GitHub Actions from the public source, and GitHub records a SHA-256 digest for every file in it that you can check against your download. Files and digests for v3.15.1
Free for Mac and Windows. Bring your own Groq key.
